Wowzers....What a Week!!!

Mama,

Wow sounds like you had a wonderful busy week, full of lots of different things. School has begun, rodeos have been attended and now it goes into the life of school time. I can't believe summer is over and everyone is starting school. Can I just say that I do miss school a bit. It was fun to go and learn everyday. But what I am learning here is so much more important. It isn't about biology or the stars but about my Heavenly Father and his plan for me and how I can be better every single day.

You asked me about what are some of my favorites of Ecuador. Well first of the bread they have here. I love the bread and eat so much of it. You can get a pansito and a banana for 15 cents. I love that. I love that I get to eats potatoes and a huge pile of white rice every single day. That is the food here a lot of the time, and it is something I am so grateful for. I love the hard work people have to do to live. They work together in their families and work so hard. I love the tranquil lifestyle and their love for one another and just how chill the indigenous people are. I love the traditional attire. The anaco is good enough to go to church but they use it to do the dirty work too. I love the long black hair in braids. I don't think I am use to seeing men with short hair any more. I love the night sky with all the billions of stars. I love the milk in a bag and the aguitas. I love the rock roads that make it hard to walk and the fields of corn and the dirt in my face. I love all the time the amount of dogs, cows and pigs in my path. I love the people and there humility and how service oriented they are. I love the stories of there ancestors and the way that they live their lives. Pretty much to put it in a nutshell I love everything about Ecuador. It is my country. I love it with all my heart. It is so different from anything I had before. But it is a major part of me now. I was writing in my journal the other night and thinking how different my life would be without my mission. I would be starting school and just hanging out with my friends and probably still working at Shopko. But I would have never met Marisol with her two girls Veronica and Zoe or the Hermana Miriam and Melvin. I would have never learned how much I love the Familia Moreta and how wonderful Tania is. I would have never met Roberto and Lola or Joel. I would have never learned about the Laguna de Cuicocha(lake) with out Javier and Rocio Lema Campo or how important a Sister can be without Javier Tituana. I would have never met a lot of these people that I love with my whole heart and want to do everything I possibly can for them and with them. They are family and I want to give my best to them every single day. I am just going to say I am so eternally grateful for my mission but that doesn't do it justice.

Tania is getting baptised this Saturday. She is so ready and passed her entrevista(interview). She is great and I love her. Pray for her to make it to Saturday. She needs all the prayers she can receive to help her to not fall into temptation this week!!!

I saw Hermana Yorgason!! What a blessing that was. It was truly a tender mercy for both of us. She gave me the letters from each and every one of you. That was a special treat. She is doing good, it is hard in the first change but in time she will be such a great missionary filled with power.

Well that is my letter for this week. I love you soooooo much. Have a wonderful week.
Love you with all my whole heart

Time.....I don't know where it has gone.

MOM!!!!!

Sounds like you had a very busy fun week. I love hearing about your weeks and all the things that you do. I can't believe that summer is over and that school has begun. Wow time has flown.

It has flown by soo fast. I mean I hit 6 months in the mission. Someone from my group told me that this day next year they would be in their home. That kind of put me into shock. I don't want to think about that yet. But you know I only have a year left so it is time to just keep going. That is insane.

I GET TO SEE HERMANA YORGASON THIS WEEK!! We get to go to Quito this week for a special meeting with Elder Soares of the 70. I get to see her because it is all of Otavalo, Ibarra and Quito!! WOOHOO! PICS FOR SURE!!

Well this week was good. Lots of things happened. One that you won't believe but is true is that I didn't have much time with my camera this week. No it didn't get stolen. But it has been to Guayaquil. I let the Flia Moreta take with them on their temple trip because they don't have a camera. Yeah so my camera has been to the southern part of Ecuador without me that is strange huh?!

The wind here is insane, is the best and easiest way to put it. Close your eyes and imagine walking down a dirt road. Now add wind. Little rock pebbles. Your hair in your face and then the little rock pebbles being blown by insane wind hitting your skin and stinging it until it hurts. Yeah the wind is crazy here but the wind season is almost over.....then comes......the rain!! One extreme to the next. #mylifeinecuador

I would like to share a story of a miracle that happened this week. We have an investigator. She is eternal. Her name is Tania and is 14. The reason she is eternal is that her dad lives in Italy and won't give her permission to be baptized. We found this out because she lives with the Flia Moreta. And her mom lives there too. Well we felt to find her in the Antiguo investigadores and started teaching her again. She knows it is true. She comes every week to church and even pays her tithing. Yeah she is golden. So this week we taught her about fasting. We offered to fast with her because she has never fasted before about permission. Well we fasted with her and then didn't see her again until Saturday. First part of the miracle. She was waiting for us in her house and didn't leave with her mom like she normally does. Second part she finished her fast and felt really good about it. Third we were talking and decided to talk to the assistants about the situation. Well I called and we talked and this is where Heavenly Father answered our fast. She doesn't need permission from her dad if she lives with her mom and her dad lives in a different country. Her mom gave her permission a long time ago. Yes we received a miracle. She has a fecha(date) for the 5th of September now and she will be such a strong member.

I know that miracles happen in the mission but not only here but in our lives. It all depends if we truly have faith that our Father in Heaven knows best and we put our trust in him. I know that this is the true and everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ and through him we can be made clean and receive all the father hath.
I love being a missionary. It is wonderfully hard. But so great.
My comp and I are having struggles still but in time it will get better. It has gotten better. I just need to keep changing through the Atonement and then all will get better. I can't change who she is but I can change myself for the better to be more of a friend and help to her. It all starts with ourselves and then we can help change others.

I love you!! Have a great week!!!!
Love you tons
Jenika

Hola.....Wow what a week it has been.

No mail yet but yes I did get some of Kallen´s card. I think two or three. Pouch hasn't come in a while so I am expecting a pile soon.

WOW what a power house of a Presidency for young womens. They will be so wonderful!!

I think I might get to see Sam this week or hope to because Elder Godoy of the seventy's is coming to visit our mission and we are thinking that he will be just in Quito and we will go to Quito for the reuniones so that will be fun. at least I hope soooo!!

Wow what a week it has been for me this week. New comp has been the hardest one yet. But we have fasted for a good companionship and it will be turn out good. I have faith in that. I just need to work on myself and then I will be able to more for the companionship. You are constantly shown your challenges in the mission and sometimes you just have to take a step back and realize how blessed you are and how powerful your Heavenly Father is. I had to do that this week.

Well the work in Karabuela is going well. We did a lot of finding this week and found a lot of awesome investigators. We found Tania. She lives in the house of the the Familia Moreta my most favoritest members ever. They are seriously like family. Her mom works with them and she was listening to the lessons and wants to be baptized. The only problem is that earlier with other missionaries her dad wouldnt give her permission to be baptized. But we really feel she will be able to recieve permission this time. We are praying like crazy and are going to fast with her tomorrow. She is going to be a wonderful member. We also one day found 7 new investigators because we found two families. We hope they will progress well just haven't had time to really work with them yet.

Karabuela is like home now. The house no but the people yes. I was sitting in sacrament meeting yesterday in the middle of all the indigenous people. During the sacrament song I just stopped and listened to them praise our Savior Jesus Christ through the song 'I stand all amazed'. The power in that room was amazing. I am so blessed to be working with the literal descendants of the Lamanites. They have a special spirit about them that I can't even described. They are wonderful and I love them with my whole entire heart and soul.

I just want to share that I know that I this is the True and Everlasting Gospel of Jesus the Christ. I know it is a choice every single day to believe and as we choose to believe every single day we are endowed with power to be instruments in the hands of the creator of this World who loves each and every single one of us more than we could ever in our wildest dreams imagine. I love the opportunity i have every day to believe and to know of my Savior Jesus Christ. He is my Lord. My Savior. My Redeemer and my Friend. I put all my trust in him because he is all powerful and will never lead me astray.

I love the mission. I love Ecuador. I love Otavalo. I love Karabuela. I love my life!

Love you soooo much and I hope you have a most wonderful week! I pray for you every single day!!!
Love with all the power of my whole soul

4th Companion....wow who would have thought!

Mama,

It doesn't feel much different to be 20. But you know in time.

First to answer your questions because I know there are a lot and my weeks have been a bit crazy.

My new house is a house. I am still cold but it is getting better. It is all cement floors. It is kind of like living in garage I took pics to send to you. We are looking for a new one because during another cambio someone got in during the night. But don't worry they put a new door in so it is a lot safer but still president said look for a new one.

I feel better. I am doing better. Still have phlegm but you know that takes a while to clear up. I have no idea what I took for it because I went to a doctor and he just gave me this prescription in Spanish and I took to a farmacia(pharmacy) and got it and took it. I am really working to keep my knee good too so don't worry about that. Can you believe it has been a year since my surgery. I have grown so much in this time and that was one of the reasons

Yes I have money don't worry i haven't needed to starve in the mission quite yet.
Oh and I took more money out of my account. To send you guys a package so look for it in 3 weeks to 3 months....haha

The night sky in Carabuela is one of my favorite parts of this sector. We have one part of the sector we have to walk through without lights and the stars are so bright. I love it sooooo much. I dont get time just to sit and stare at the sky though that is a bummer. But it is beautiful. Like more than you can imagine. Also I have seen the big dipper and don't know what the southern cross looks like but I bet I have seen it.

No mail or packages yet but ya mismo-. I hope this week

Yes I know Luis Maigua. He lives in Carabuela and his daughter added you yesterday. Because she is gonna post pictures. You can find more of the members through him.

Well this week was a week. It was good and bad but you know that is how it goes. My birthday was yesterday as you know and it was soo good but soo different than any other birthday I had ever had. First out of the blue got asked to speak in sacrament meeting because our obispo(bishop) forgot to assign talks and then we got to give the lesson in relief society but I didn't know why. Well the reason that it happened was because the consejo de nuestro barrio and the presidencia de la relief soceity(Relief Soeciety President) was getting ready to surprise me with a little party. They made a banner and had cake and surprised me and shared words about how they are grateful I am in there ward. It was super great and I felt so loved. It really was a special birthday that I will never forget ever in my whole life.

Well cambios were on my birthday and I am still in Carabuela but have a new comp. Her name is Hermana Relmuan she is from Argentina too and is 21. She talks so much faster and has a different accent that is harder to understand so I will be learning a lot more Spanish now which is good. I am super excited for this change because Hna Quiros was really hard for me. She didn't have many desires to work and so we lacked in that cambio but Hna Remulan is ready to work hard and I am so excited. Hermana Szerdi finished her mission this week too which is insane. She will be missed by me. Look her up on facebook and be her friend.

I love this gospel sooooo much and am so thankful for the Lord and how he knows what is best for me in my life. He is the one who I can lean on in anything. I am scared to be 20, not going to lie. I get scared for changes and I get scared to have to lead in the sector. But as I pray and I put my trust in him. He is the one who truly leads me and guides me and walks beside me. I dont know how I would ever make it in this world without this gospel. I am so blessed. And have a family who is the best ever.

I love you soooooo much and thank you for your testimony everyweek mommy. I love you so much and got to talk about you in the lesson for relief soceity. It was about the sacred role of mothers. I told them in Spanish that you are my best friend and that you are the reason I am here. That I receive your testimony every single week and it is what helped me to have mine. I love you sooooo much and hope you have a great week.

I pray for you often and love to hear about your week and all that you do.

Love you with all my whole heart that I can possibly muster
Jenika

WOW 20

Well I don't have much time this week. Because of some internet trouble so this is going to be a little short, but I am writing so that is the good part.

Well this week was good. We had capacitaciones(training) con Presidente and Hermana Richardson. They are wonderful and I really love the spirit they bring when they come to help us become better missionaries. The assistants also they are great. Then we are working with Roberto. He isn't a member but his wife is a MA(less active). They are great and he accepted a date for baptism. But has a problem with the Word of Wisdom and so we are working with him hard. But I know with the Lord all things are possible. Then we rescued 2 people this week! They were MAs also but they are now active and wonderful I will write more about them next week.

Cambios are this Sunday crazy how fast this 6 weeks has gone by. Guess we will see what happens.

Also can you Believe it. Imma be 20 Years old Sunday. I bought a cake today because there aren't any cakes in Carabuela so I will be eating cake all week. That is soo weird. 20 is my favorite number. Wow this is crazy!!!!!

I know this gospel is the truth!! I know it is the best thing ever and will help everyone who accepts it. I love my mission and can't wait to keep working!!

Sorry it is short today but It doesn't mean I love you less it means I don't have much time but I love you soooooo much
Love with all my heart
Hermana Hull
